We made a strong decision when we started our brand: the material has to be as good as possible, so it would look only better with some patina. It was instantly clear that we just couldn’t settle for some average leather - it had to be something special.
Precise sewing and an ingenious design are essential. But the quality of the leather is what really makes or breaks the final outcome. And we were determined to find it, even if we had to travel to the end of the world.
Luckily, we didn't have to go further than a few hundred kilometers south. It turned out that when it comes to leather, Italians can do just as great as we need. And that their full-grain leather is the ideal choice for a brand that wants to make their products fair.
This so-called full-grain leather is among the best materials a tanner can work with. It was also a clear front-runner for us, especially because of the other adjustments to the material we had in mind.
Brown and dark brown leather from our workshop undergoes so-called manual tanning. Using this technique, it is particularly important that the material is in the best possible condition to emphasize the uniqueness and texture that is naturally imprinted in the skin.
Some manufacturers like to cut corners by cutting off the top layer and imprinting the desired structure into the material. However, this is how the hide loses not only its authenticity, but also a natural quality. Not in our case!
The essence of the quality of the products we produce can also be found in leather processing. Before we start to sew, it is necessary to process raw leather professionally. In other words to treat it so that it lasts and does not degrade over time.
There are several ways to do this. Our favorite is the so-called tanning, or natural tanning treatment - and all of our brown and black hides go exactly through this process. As a result, we can ensure the highest quality and offer a lifetime guarantee on all of our products, which is hard to beat.
Don’t forget to remember how to take care of your leather so that it will stay in great shape for as long as possible.
