Here's a fact: your clothing speaks for you before you even open your mouth.
This mini-series covers the very basics -- our stylist, Gabrielle, put together a list of 12 fashion faux pas that men tend to make.
Read part 1 if you're new here, or continue reading to upgrade your style with part 2.
Gabrielle looks pretty sure when she says that a wedding ring, watch and cufflinks are the only pieces of jewelry men can wear at all times. With one addition -- thin bracelets are in fashion nowadays.
“Just avoid those wide bracelets you see mostly on metalheads -- unless you're one, of course:)”
We're pretty sure you don't wear them anyway, but just to be sure. What's also told to be a fashion sin is socks with loafers and white socks in general -- these are to be worn only for running or working out.
“Do you know why you were given that T-shirt last time you went to your bank? Because their marketing department wishes that the eight hours they spent designing it will make a walking billboard out of you”
There's nothing to add.
A velcro wallet might come in handy, when… when? Unless you're an outdoor sports enthusiast who needs to carry his wallet into the Amazon rainforest in his backpack, we don't see any reason for you not to get a solid leather wallet.
OK, you're right. Our opinion is far from objective:)
There's no negotiating with Gabrielle.
“Pair a suit jacket with jeans or match trousers from one suit with a jacket from another and watch how people ‘who know’ look at you. You'll never do it again.”
Let's end this mini-series with one of the biggest fashion faux pas of today. The combination of a short-sleeved shirt and a suit (sometimes even enriched with a tie) is just unacceptable.
One should re-consider if a short-sleeved shirt is really necessary after all? Why not get a classic long-sleeved shirt and curl the sleeves?
